SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa.- The Keystone College softball team lost to Clarks Summit University in a United East Play-In game Thursday afternoon, 6-0.
With the loss, Keystone finishes the season 12-17 and Clarks Summit goes to 20-15-1. The Defenders will face No. 1 seed Wilson College in their first game of the United Skye Division Tournament on Friday.
The Keystone bats only registered three hits on the afternoon. Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) and Isabella Benitez (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) each recorded a hit in three at bats. Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) also added a hit in this afternoon's playoff game.
In the circle, Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) went the entire seven innings where the senior pitcher recorded nine strikeouts and only surrendered one walk.
Clarks Summit came out swinging early, scoring three runs in the top half of the first and chipped away as the game progressed. Two more runs were added in the top of the third, along with tallying an insurance run in the seventh which secured the shutout victory.
This game concludes the 2024 Keystone Softball season.
