WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The women's soccer team took a tough 12-0 loss to King's College to open up their season on the road on Saturday afternoon.
The Giants only had two shots on goal in the match. One coming from Brooke Freni (Glendora, N.J./Triton Regional) and the other from Abigail Bateman (Edmeston, N.Y./Edmeston Central). Annie Metzger (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) stayed in goal for the whole match and ended the day with 15 saves and 12 goals allowed.
The Monarch's scoring efforts were led by Anya Chervak who scored three times off of three shots on goal. Jenna Waldbillig and Victoria Hanna each found the back of the net twice, while the rest of the Monarch's goals came from a mix of the team. Ashlyn Crawford also picked up two saves as the goalkeeper for King's in the first half.
Women's soccer will be home on Saturday September 12th to take on Neumann University in their home opener, with game time scheduled for 12:00 PM.
