Giants Rally but Fall Short to Rutgers-Camden

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team suffered a narrow 8-6 loss to Rutger-Camden Monday afternoon at Christy Mathewson Field.

Keystone scored first as Robert Estrada (Maracay, Venezuela/James J. Ferris) recorded an RBI SAC fly. The Scarlet Raptors added two runs in the third to take a one run lead. That lead would not last long as Andy Rivas (Bronx, N.Y./Academy for Language and Technology) tied the game with a solo home run.

The game remained scoreless until Rutgers-Camden added three runs in the seventh inning to take a 5-2 lead. The Giants added a run in the bottom half as Jonathan Santiago (Dunnellon, Fla./Citrus Springs) grounded out to score Rivas.

The Scarlet Raptors added three more runs as Jack Murphy had a bases clearing double which brought three of his teammates home. The Ginats rallied in the bottom of the ninth with three runs of their own but would ultimately fall short in the end.

Rivas went 3-for-4 in the defeat. Estrada and Dante Ruby (Eynon, Pa./Valley View) each had two hits. Sean Brennan (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) started on the mound and went six innings with eight punchouts.

Keystone (15-6) hosts Penn College in a conference doubleheader on Wednesday, Apr. 9 at 12 p.m.
