Baseball Sweeps Wilson in Second Round Series

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team picked up two wins in the United East Second Round with 12-1 and 14-2 victories over Wilson College Friday afternoon in the United East Second Round.

Game One: Wilson 1, Keystone 12

The majority of the first game was a pitcher's duel for most of the contest. Wilson was able to crack the scoring column with a solo home run in the fourth. Keystone scored off a wild pitch in the bottom half to tie the game.

The Giants took the lead off an RBI ground out in the sixth. They would bust it open in the eighth with 10 runs which included two home runs by Andy Rivas (Bronx, N.Y./Academy for Language and Technology).

Rivas went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Chase Boyle (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central) added two hits with two RBI. Carlos Pascual (Paterson, N.J./International), Cooper Fesh (Bethel, Conn./Bethel), and Hunter Rauch (Lincoln, Del./Cape Henlopen) added two hits with a run scored.

Sean Brennan (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) started the first game and went eight innings with three strikeouts. The senior picked up his eighth win of the season.

Game Two: Wilson 2, Keystone 14

The Giants scored two runs in the first off, an SAC fly by Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) and a fielding error. They would add two more in the third with a Nate Ewing (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) RBI single and a walk with the bases loaded.

Keystone scored once in the fifth off another fielding error and Rivas brought home two more with a single in the sixth.

Like the first game, Keystone had a big eighth inning as they tallied seven runs off multiple base knocks and bases loaded walk.

Boyle and Ewing had three hits each. Ewing picked up his 200th career hit which occurred in the eighth inning. Rivas, Robert Estrada (Maracay, Venezuela/James J. Ferris), and Darren Hagan (Aston, Pa./Garnet Valley) posted two hits.

Quinn Holt (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) received the second game start and tossed eight scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Leam Powell (Phillipsport, N.Y./Chapel Field Christian) pitched one inning in relief and struck out three.

What's Next

Keystone (31-9) will play one more regular-season game before they host the United East Final Four next week. The team will head to Hobart College on Monday, May 5 at 6 p.m. in a game that was rescheduled from April.
