Women’s Volleyball Defeated by Misericordia Tuesday Evening

DALLAS, Pa.- The Keystone College women's volleyball team suffered a three-set loss to Misericordia University Tuesday evening at the Anderson Center.

Keystone lost by scores of 25-8, 25-19, and 25-12.

After Keystone scored the opening point off a service ace, the Cougars would score 10 unanswered points which included six service aces and two kills. Following a Giants timeout, Misericordia would go on a 15-7 run to end the first set.

Both teams traded points to begin the second set. With the score tied 7-7, Keystone responded with three straight points. The Cougar added three points of their own following the Giants run.

The two squads resumed trading points over the next couple rounds. The score was tied 17 apiece when the Cougars scored eight of the next ten points to take the set.

Misericordia opened the third set on a 4-0 run. Keystone was able to cut into their deficit off a few Cougar miscues. The small errors by Misericordia would not be costly to them as they would ultimately run away with the third set and match.

Indya Rogers (Leeds, Ala./Leeds) and Madison Woods (Camrose, Alberta, Canada/Ecole Camrose Composite) both had two kills. Rogers, Woods, Abigail Cornell (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak), and Naema Alatorre (Brownsville, Tex./Idea Frontier) combined for 17 digs. Cornell led the Giants with four assists.

For Misericordia, Rachel LoFaso tallied eight kills and three digs. Olivia Conza and Jenna Schuda tallied 13 and seven assists, respectively. Schuda posted a match high seven service aces.

Keystone (0-3) heads to Babson College on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m.
