ABINGTON, Pa.- The Keystone College women's volleyball team opened United East Conference at a tr-match hosted by Penn State Abington Saturday morning.
The Giants were swept in the conference opener by the Nittany Lions in three sets and suffered a three-set nonconference loss to Delaware Valley afterwards.
Penn State Abington 3, Keystone 0
The Giants dropped this match by scores of 25-10, 25-17, 25-21.
Jamilah Higgins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Purcell Martin) and Madison Woods (Camrose, Alberta, Canada/Ecole Camrose Composite) added five kills. Naema Alatorre (Brownsville, Tex./Idea Frontier) dished out 12 assists. Nataly Bermudez (Las Vegas, NV/Valley) and Hailey Mowry (Vail, Ariz./Cienega) combined for 16 digs.
For the Nittany Lions, Zayna Jamladdin tallied a match-high 15 kills. Ellie Van Otten had nine. Ryenn Mamrosch and Hailey Revak posted 19 and 13 assists, respectively. Fabiola Medina totaled 20 digs.
Delaware Valley 3, Keystone 0
Keystone was in a tight-knit battle in all three sets, but they unfortunately came up short as they were defeated 25-21, 25-15, 25-22.
Isabella Buonopane (Wake Forest, N.C./Archbishop Williams) had four kills. Alatorre added six assists. On the defensive side, both Alatorre and Indya Rogers (Leeds, Ala./Leeds) had six digs. Higgins posted three total blocks.
The Aggies were led by Monique Smith who had 11 kills. Madison Alexander collected 25 assists. Nia Walker finished with eight digs.
The Giants held a 21-18 lead in the third set until Delaware Valley went on a 7-1 run to close out the set and match.
