Third-Quarter Run Sends Women’s Basketball to 50–41 Loss Against Gallaudet

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College women's basketball dropped a 50–41 decision to Gallaudet University in a United East Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Gambal Athletic Center, as the visitors used a decisive third-quarter surge to pull away after a tight first half.

Keystone was paced by Hailee Hackett (Carmicahel, Calif./Rio Americano) and Angelise Sanchez (Atlanta, Ga./Ocoee), who scored nine points apiece. Jayda Price (York, Pa./William Penn) added seven points, and Phaneirra Barnett (Baltimore, Md./Edgewood) chipped in six.

Mackenzie Schirg led all scorers with 22 points and added 11 rebounds, while Kayla Debrow posted a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds for the Bison.

Keystone controlled the early tempo and led 15–10 after the first quarter, knocking down timely perimeter shots and forcing Gallaudet into turnovers.

The Giants extended the advantage in the second quarter, outscoring the Bison 13–4 to take a 28–14 lead into halftime.

Gallaudet responded coming out of the break with its best stretch of the game. The Bison shot 52.9 percent in the third quarter and scored 21 points, flipping the momentum and erasing Keystone's lead.

Schirg and Sophia Wascher sparked the run with strong play inside, as Gallaudet took advantage of second-chance opportunities and finished the quarter ahead 35–33.

The fourth quarter remained physical, but Keystone struggled to find consistent offense, shooting just 8.3 percent from the field in the final 10 minutes. Gallaudet steadily built its lead with points in the paint and free throws down the stretch, closing out the nine-point win.

The Bison finished with a 49–34 rebounding edge, including 19 offensive boards that led to 23 second-chance points.

Keystone (3-15, 2-5 United East) will take on Penn State Brandywine on the road next Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
