Hodge-Davila, Cummings Score as Giants Shut Out Cairn, 2-0

LA PLUME, PA- Second-half goals from Dary Hodge-Davila (Riverview, FL/Riverview) and Aiden Cummings (Baltimore, MD/Mount Saint Joseph), along with three saves from James Kallens (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Regional), helped the Keystone College men's soccer team secure a 2-0 victory over Cairn University in United East Conference action Wednesday at the Keystone Turf Field and Track Complex.

Keystone improved to 5-6-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Barrett Wood (Norfolk, VA/Matthew Fontaine Maury) contributed an assist on Hodge-Davila's game-winning goal, while the Giants finished with advantages in shots, shots on goal and corner kicks.

Keystone tested Cairn's goalkeeper early, with Lenskey Raoul (Neptune Township, NJ/Neptune) placing a shot toward the bottom left corner at 3:12. Cummings followed with a shot on target at 13:49, and David Sandoval (Reedley, CA/Reedley) sent an attempt over the goal at 14:47 as the Giants continued to look for the opening score.

Cummings came close to breaking the tie midway through the first half, striking the left post at 24:07. He forced another save in the 33rd minute with a shot toward the bottom center of the goal. Keystone recorded five shots before halftime, including three on target.

At the other end, the Giants limited Cairn to one first-half shot, which went over the goal in the 26th minute. Keystone entered the break with the match still scoreless and Kallens yet to face a shot on goal.

The Giants began building pressure again in the second half, earning a corner kick at 60:24 before Ethan Eccleston (Chandler, AZ/Hamilton) sent a shot over the goal at 61:04. Another Keystone corner followed at 61:43, and the breakthrough came less than a minute later.

Hodge-Davila scored at 62:11 off an assist from Wood to give Keystone a 1-0 lead. Cummings also registered a saved attempt during the 63rd minute as the Giants continued to generate opportunities.

Kallens quickly helped preserve the advantage, making his first save at 62:31 on a shot toward the bottom center of the goal. He added another stop at 71:46, keeping Keystone ahead as the match moved into its final 20 minutes.

The Giants remained active offensively during that stretch. Cummings sent a shot wide right at 68:21, and Hodge-Davila added an attempt over the goal at 72:19. Keystone earned additional corner kicks in the 69th and 75th minutes before Marcos Louzada (Guacui, Espirito Santo, Brazil/The Webb School) forced a save with a shot on target at 79:56.

With Keystone holding its one-goal lead late, Kallens made another stop at 86:43. The save was his third of the half and kept the Giants' shutout intact.

Cummings then gave Keystone some breathing room at 88:15, scoring an unassisted goal to extend the lead to 2-0 with 1:45 remaining. The Giants maintained that margin through the final whistle to finish off the conference victory.

Cummings led all players with six shots and four shots on goal. Hodge-Davila finished with two shots and the game-winning tally, while Raoul and Louzada each recorded a shot on target. Sandoval and Eccleston contributed one attempt apiece.

Kallens played the full 90 minutes and stopped all three shots he faced on goal. Keystone outshot Cairn 12-8, held a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal and earned five corner kicks to Cairn's four.

The Giants stay home for homecoming weekend as the team hosts Penn College at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 10.
