Softball Falls to Lancaster Bible College in Tough Doubleheader Matchup

LANCASTER, PA- Keystone College softball fell at Lancaster Bible College in a tough doubleheader against the Chargers, 6-0, 6-1. The Giants fall to 2-10 on the season with one doubleheader remaining on the road before returning home for the first time this season to take on Gallaudet University. 

Game one: (LBC 6, Keystone 0)

The Giants dropped a tough battle in game one against the Chargers, falling 6-0. The Chargers struck early in the game, knocking in the games first five runs over the first two innings of play. Keystone earned a hit in the first inning, but was unable to capitalize, leaving Emily Shultz on first base. Isabella Benitez (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) added a hit to the Giants box score in the seventh inning, but ultimately, the Giants came up short, dropping game one 6-0.

Keystone finished the first game tallying two hits, and drawing four walks. Amaia Smith (Berlin, N.J./Overbrook) earned the start for KC, pitching 3.0 innings, before Aimee Lyons (Ajax, ON/Pickering) entered the circle for the remaining 3.0 innings of play.

Game two: (LBC 6, Keystone 1)

The Chargers once more struck first in the second game of the twinbill, adding the first run of the afternoon in the first inning of play. Keystone responded in the fourth inning, tying the game back up at one run each, after Amaia Smith (Berlin, N.J./Overbrook) drew a walk, scoring Emily Shultz from third base. 

The Chargers did not wait long to regain the lead, knocking in five runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning, holding on to that lead for the remainder of the game. Keystone tacked on an additional hit with an Aimee Lyons (Ajax, ON/Pickering) single to right field, but the Giants were unable to capitalize any further, falling 6-1.

Keystone looks to bounce back against the Falcons of Cedar Crest College in a United East doubleheader on April 7. The Giants return to La Plume for the first time this season on April as they take on Gallaudet University in yet another United East doubleheader.
