WASHINGTON, PA- The Keystone College football team battled through a weather-shortened contest Saturday afternoon, falling to Washington & Jefferson, 42-0, at Cameron Stadium.
The game was finalized following the second quarter due to weather, with the Presidents holding a 42-0 advantage at the time play was called.
Keystone opened the afternoon with a strong defensive presence, as Anthony Rosser (Philadelphia, PA/Imhotep Charter) recorded six tackles, including a sack for a five-yard loss. Isiah Terry (Newark, NJ/Newark Collegiate Academy) added five tackles, while Trent Gilliard (Philadelphia, PA/Martin Luther King) and Dorien Garvin (Philadelphia, PA/Abraham Lincoln) each finished with four tackles.
The Giants also received a strong effort from Daniel James-Eriven (Avondale, AZ/Hamilton) in the kicking game. The senior punted five times for 199 yards, averaging 39.8 yards per punt, including a long of 52 yards and one punt inside the 20-yard line.
Offensively, Keystone recorded 60 passing yards on 5-of-9 passing. Dymear Hill (Camden, NJ/East Side) led the Giants with two receptions for 52 yards, including a 34-yard reception, while Zamir Poteat (Philadelphia, PA/West Philadelphia) contributed on special teams with two kickoff returns for 49 yards.
Keystone's defense continued to compete throughout the abbreviated contest, finishing with 48 total tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.
The Giants return to action next Saturday, Sept. 19, when they travel to Southern Virginia University.
