Joe Gibbons enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Keystone College men’s basketball program.
Gibbons joined the Giants’ coaching staff after a successful seven-year stint as head boys’ basketball coach at Mountain View High School. During his tenure, he compiled a 63–90 overall record, including a 45–38 mark in Lackawanna League Division IV competition.
Under Gibbons’ leadership, the Eagles earned two District II AA State Tournament appearances, advanced to two district championship games, and captured the Lackawanna League Division IV championship in 2020. Five of his players went on to sign and compete at the collegiate level. In recognition of his success, Gibbons was named Lackawanna League Division IV Coach of the Year in 2019.
Prior to Mountain View, Gibbons served as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Penn State Scranton from 2012-2016. During that time, the Nittany Lions made three PSUAC playoff appearances and claimed the 2013 PSUAC North Division Championship.
A 2013 graduate of Penn State University, Gibbons earned a bachelor’s degree in business before completing his master’s degree in athletic administration at California University of Pennsylvania in 2016.
