The 2017 season marked Peter Steve’s second year as a volunteer assistant coach with Keystone College’s men’s soccer team. A former standout goalkeeper and team captain, Steve joined the Giants’ sideline after playing at the NCAA Division I level while earning scholarships to both the University of Cincinnati and Mount St. Mary’s University.
In the fall of 2017, Steve helped lead Keystone to a record-breaking season as the Giants went 13-5-1 overall and 7-1-1 in conference play to earn a first round playoff bye and home CSAC semfinal game for the first time in program history. The Giants finished as the CSAC runner-up after reaching the conference championship game for the first time in program history. Steve mentored Keystone's goalkeeers who combined to post a 1.35 goals-against average, a .774 save percentage, and seven shutouts on the year.
In his first season at Keystone, Steve helped lead the Giants to a 9-7-1 overall record in the #4 seed in the CSAC playoffs with a 6-3 conference record. Steve helped Keystone's goalkeepers post a 1.18 goals-against average and a .792 save percentage while recording five shutouts on the year.
Steve enjoyed an outstanding playing career at Mount St. Mary’s where he started all 33 games the Mount in his final two seasons. During his senior year in which he was a team captain in 2012, he made posted a 1.84 goals against average and a .656 save percentage after turning aside 61 saves which tied for sixth-best in the Northeast Conference. Steve also recorded four shutouts on the season.
As a junior, Steve held Mount St. Mary’s opponents to less than a goal against per game with an impressive, 0.96 goals against average to go along with a .781 save percentage with 57 saves. He also posted a pair of clean sheets in the fall of his junior year. Steve made six saves in two appearances as a sophomore after transferring to Mount St. Mary’s from the University of Cincinnati.
Steve competed scholastically at nearby Dallas High School where he lead the Mountaineers to a District 2 – AA title his senior year following a runner-up finish in the district tournament in his sophomore year. A three-time Wyoming Valley Conference All-Star, Steve made 267 saves and recorded 24 career shutouts in goal for Dallas, was a three-time Times Leader All-Star honoree, and was a Citizen’s Voice All-Star selection as a senior.
On the club level, Steve was a member of the PA Classics in 2008 after winning both state and regional championships as a member of FC Delco in 2007.
Steve is currently employed as a Business Analyst at TMG Health in Scranton where he has worked since May of 2014 following four years at Ideaworks Marketing in Plymouth.
Steve earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree with a major in History and a minor in Legal Studies from Mount St. Mary’s in 2012 before obtaining a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Mount St. Mary’s in 2013.
