Jason Rhine was hired as the head women's basketball coach at Keystone College on July 10, 2023. He has since been elevated to Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities Management.
Rhine joined the Giants after serving as the head coach at Misericordia University for seven seasons from 2016 until 2023, compiling a record of 119-56 (.680 winning percentage), going 65-29 in MAC Freedom conference play, while guiding the Cougars to the playoffs in all seven years. Misericordia advanced to six semifinals, one conference championship under Rhine and he is a 3X Coach of the Year award recipient (MAC-Freedom, D3Hoops and ECAC). He currently stands as Misericordia’s All-Time Wins leader in program history.Â
Rhine played two seasons at Keystone before starting his collegiate coaching career while enrolled and later graduated from Keystone College in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management before earning his master’s degree at California University of Pennsylvania. He was selected as the Graduate Assistant at Cal U where the team was 40-18 in two seasons. During that span, the Vulcans reached the NCAA Division II "Sweet Sixteen" and would later go on to win the National Championship. Rhine's recruiting played a significant factor in the Vulcans winning that 2014-2015 NCAA Division II National Championship.
He later served as an assistant coach for one season at Washington & Jefferson College (PA), where the team finished with an overall record of 21-8. After W&J, Rhine served as assistant coach at Aurora University (IL) for one season. Aurora finished that season at 17-11 and competed in the NACC Conference Championship. It was their best record in over a decade. His 1st head coaching job came at Misericordia University.
Within his role of head coach, Rhine has expanded his administrative involvement by sitting as the athletic chair for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and served as coordinator of athletic facilities while at Misericordia. He also served as the MAC-Freedom conference chair for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). While in graduate school, Rhine also worked as a building site supervisor of a 388,000-square-foot distribution center for Dicks Sporting Goods.
In his new role of Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities Management at Keystone College, he will support the AD by supervising all facilities management and developing opportunities for the athletics department to support the college’s goals.
Furthermore, Rhine has been instrumental in renovating the athletic classroom and constructing the first ever student athlete lounge. He also remodeled the athlete only conference room and is currently in the process of constructing a student athlete nutrition and refill station.Â
