Fusco, Kelly named Keystone athletes of the week; Kelly also named CSAC Player of the Week





La Plume, PA (1-23-12) - The Keystone College athletic department has announced that Jessica Fusco (Unadilla, NY/Sidney) and Mike Kelly have been named as the athletes of the week for the period ending January 22.

Kelly was also named as the CSAC Men's Basketball Player of the week, marking the fourth time in eight weeks that a Keystone player has earned the honor, including the second consecutive week that a Giant picked up the laurel.

Fusco, a sophomore from Sidney, NY and graduate of Sidney High School, is a member of the women's track and field team.  Fusco helped the Giants resume their indoor schedule with a bang at the Orange and Maroon Classic at Susquehanna University.  Fusco set a new program mark in the 60m Hurdles by bounding over the barriers in a time of 10.25 seconds, eventually taking fourth place at the event.  She also claimed a third place finish in the Pole Vault, clearing a height of 8-6.25.  She wrapped up the day as a member of the 4 x 400m Relay team, teaming with Kalene Wall (Woodbridge, VA/Forest Park), Rebecca Drumheller (Hazle Township, PA/Hazleton) and Aneisha Williams (Port Jervis, NY/Port Jervis), to take home third place with a time of 4:33.56.

Kelly, a junior from New Hartford, NY and graduate of New Hartford High School, helped the Giants improve to 14-2 with a 3-0 week.  In an 83-79 win at Immaculata, a game the saw the Giants overcome a 17-point deficit with just over seven minutes to play, he was 5-8 from the field, netting 11 points. He also pulled in five rebounds to go along with three assists and a pair of steals. On Saturday he helped the Giants turn in an electrifying second half as Keystone downed Neumann 97-83. Kelly tied a career high with 23 points, while grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out four assists and picking up a pair of steals. Less than 24 hours later he helped the Giants to a 94-82 non-conference win over Morrisville. He connected on four three's en route to a 17-point game. He added six assists to go with five rebounds.
