La Plume, PA (1-30-12) - The Keystone College athletic department has announced that
Alyssa Cuomo (Odessa, DE/Hodgson Vo-tech) and Kenneth Hardnett have been named as the athletes of the week at the College for the period ending January 29.
Hardnett was also named as the CSAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, marking the third time this season he has been honored as the conference's top performer. Hardnett's honor also gives Keystone five player of the week awards this season, three more then the next school.
Cuomo, a freshman from Odessa, De and graduate of Hodgson Vo-tech, is a member of the women's basketball team. The outside shooting threat tallied 47 points (15.6ppg) and 11 rebounds (3.6rpg) during the team's three-game week. In the team's first game of the week, a non-conference affair at Wesley, Cuomo hit for 17 points while adding a pair of rebounds and a pair of steals. Two nights later she recorded a game high 22 points against the conference's top team in Gwynedd-Mercy. She connected five times from beyond the arc while also grabbing five rebounds. She capped off the week with eight points and four rebounds against Neumann.
Hardnett, a senior from Plant City, FL and graduate of Plant City High School, is a member of the men's basketball team. Hardnett kept the Giants offense rolling, as Keystone posted a pair of 100-point games in conference action. On Wednesday the Giants avenged a pair of losses last season to Gwynedd-Mercy, which included a 20-point playoff loss, as Keystone posted a 100-82 win. Hardnett was 5-6 from the field on his way to a 19-point game. He also pulled in a career high tying 18 rebounds, while dishing out six assists and picking up a pair of steals and blocks. On Saturday he netted 16 points in a 100-57 victory over PBU. He recorded a game high seven steals to go along with five rebounds and three assists. For the week Hardnett had an astonishing .816 field goals percentage. Keystone currently owns the nation's sixth most potent offense, averaging 90.4ppg.
