ResultsLanghorne, PA – Keystone College's women's cross country team finished sixth out of 11 teams on Saturday at the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Cairn University at the Core Creek Park.
Shannon Vairo (Scranton, PA/Scranton) earned First Team All-Conference honors for the second straight year after leading the Giants with a sixth place individual result in the 6K race.
Gwynedd Mercy University won their first CSAC championship since 2009 after picking up 42 points on the day to finish just three points ahead of four-time defending champion Marywood University (45 points). Immaculata was third overall with 116 points.
Marywood's Emma Doughman won the individual championship with a time of 22:24 and was followed by Gwynedd Mercy's Christina Smith who was the runner-up after clocking in at 22:39. Centenary College's Priscilla Ortiz placed third overall.
Vairo ran a time of 23:58 to place sixth in the field of 91 runners while pacing Keystone's runners.
Kaitlynn Kuchta (Duryea, PA/Pittston Area) followed with a 39
th place finish after clocking a time of 27:05 while
Alexa Jefferis (Shenandoah, PA/Shenandoah Valley) posted a personal record time of 27:58 to bring home a 44
th place result.
Tameka Wood (Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton ) finished one place behind Jefferis in 45
th position after completing the course in 28:07 while
Tiana Genetti (Weatherly, PA/Weatherly Area)'s mark of 30:17 was good for 58
th place as the Giants totaled 176 points on the day to finish one point ahead of seventh place finisher Cabrini College.
Following the race, Jefferis was named to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Keystone will return to action on Saturday, November 15
th at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships hosted by Dickinson College. The meet will be held at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania.
