Team ResultsIndividual ResultsNewville, PA – Keystone College's men's cross country team closed out their 2014 campaign on Saturday by finishing 36
th out of 47 teams at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships hosted by Dickinson College at Big Spring High School. The Giants totaled 1,052 points in the 8K race that featured 343 individual competitors.
Carnegie Mellon University won the overall team competition with 90 points to edge out runner-up Widener University, who picked up 115 points on the day. Johns Hopkins University took home a third place finish with 119 points.
Haverford College's Charlie Marquardt won the individual championship with a time of 24:47.4, just over two seconds quicker than runner-up finisher Ernie Pitone of Widener University. Nate Noll of DeSales University placed third overall in the field.
Justin Clarke (Factoryville, PA/Lackawanna Trail) led Keystone with a 49
th place finish on Saturday after cross the finish line in 26:14.7 while
Dan Polanco (Hazlet, NJ/Mater Dei Prep) brought home a 179
th place result after completing the course in 28:17.3.
Saturday's race marked the final competition in the illustrious careers of Clarke and Polanco, who led Keystone to three-straight Colonial States Athletic Conference runner-up finished. Both runners were four-time All-Conference honorees with both earning First Team All-CSAC accolades this fall.
David Strum (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) was the Giants' third finisher of the day, running a time of 30:30.4 to place 272
nd in the field and was followed by
Rich Hardy (Boothwyn, PA/Chichester)'s mark of 31:32.0 which positioned him 297
th overall.
Kyle Steiner (Sugarloaf, PA/Hazleton Area) rounded out Keystone's finishers in 311
th place after posting a time of 32:31.4 on the day.
