Aston, PA – Four Keystone College student-athletes were honored on Monday afternoon as the Colonial States Athletic Conference announced their weekly award winners.
John Ciccone (Moscow, PA/North Pocono) was named the men's cross country Runner of the Week,
Brandyn Favero (Beamsville, Ontario/Blessed Trinity Catholic) was honored as the men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, while men's soccer's
Kouassi Kouadio (Mount Pocono, PA/Pocono Mountain East) and field hockey's
Genesis Pacheco (Mount Pocono, PA/Pocono Mountain East) were both selected to the weekly Honor Roll for their respective sports.
Ciccone captured his third men's cross country Runner of the Week award and fourth weekly award overall after posting an impressive, seventh place finish out of 240 runners in Saturday's Gettysburg College Invitational. The junior completed the 8K course in 26:04.8 to help the Giants place 15
th out of 24 teams as Keystone also edged out their only fellow CSAC competitor in the race, Marywood University, who placed 16
th overall.
Favero was honored as the men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week following an outstanding performance in Saturday crucial, 3-1 victory over Cairn University. The sophomore defender scored the game-winning goal for Keystone in the 40
th minute against the Highlanders. Favero, whose first goal of the season gave the Giants a 2-0 lead, anchored Keystone's backline which held Cairn to just six shots on goal in the key CSAC game.
Kouadio was selected to the men's soccer Offensive Player of the Week Honor Roll after a three-point effort in Saturday's win over Cairn as the freshman midfielder made the most of just his third start of the fall. Kouadio recorded the first point of his collegiate career by assisting on the game's first goal in the 30
th minute before tallying the first goal of his Keystone career with 21 minutes remaining to give the Giants a 3-1 lead in the pivotal conference win.
Pacheco was named to the field hockey Offensive Player of the Week Honor Roll for the second time this fall after a record-breaking performance in Saturday's 12-0 win over Notre Dame of Maryland University. The sophomore forward set a Keystone single-game record with nine points on four goals and one assist in the Giants' conference win over the Gators. Pacheco, who scored the game-winning goal, completed a hat-trick in the opening 17:23 of the game before adding her fourth goal and an assist in the first five minutes of the second half.
