The 2016 season marked Coach Wentz's fifth season in a row and seventh overall as the head coach of Keystone College's volleyball team. After serving as the program's head coach for two seasons in 2003 and 2004, Coach Wentz returned to Giants' sideline in 2012 to build the program into a conference and regional competitor and, prior to the 2013 season, was selected to be a member of the NCAA Division III top 25 ranking committee for volleyball. Coach Wentz is also the chair of the AVCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region committee and also is on the All-American committee.
Over the past two seasons, Coach Wentz has led Keystone to a 41-17 overall record including a 19-3 mark in Colonial States Athletic Conference matches. The Giants have made back-to-back playoff appearance for the first time in program history in 2015 and 2016, highlighted by Keystone's first-ever CSAC championship game appearance this past fall where they Giants were edged in a thrilling, five-set title match with top-seeded Cabrini University.
Coach Wentz led Keystone to a 21-10 overall record in 2016 and the Giants posted its best conference record at 10-1 during the regular season, clinching the program's best postseason seed. As the #2 seed in the CSAC playoffs, Keystone earned a first round bye and swept #3 Neumann University in a home semifinal before falling in the five-set championship match at #1 and defending league-champion Cabrini. Following the season, senior outside hitter Hannah Zuchowski was named First Team All-CSAC, sophomore libero Pamela Heitman and freshman setter Malley Bowen earned Second Team All-CSAC honors, and freshman middle hitter Amanda Hardy garnered Honorable Mention All-CSAC accolades. Additionally, nine Giants earned CSAC All-Academic Team honors for excellence in the classroom.
Coach Wentz was named the 2015 CSAC Coach of the Year after leading Keystone to a 20-6 record in the regular season the program's first-ever CSAC playoff appearance as the Giants earned the #3 seed in the postseason tournament after going 9-2 in CSAC play during the regular season. Coach Wentz guided Keystone to the team's first-ever CSAC playoff win, a dramatic, five-set victory at home over Notre Dame of Maryland University before the Giants fell in the CSAC semifinals at Neumann University to finish the historic year with a 21-7 overall record while posting the second-most wins in a season in program history. Following the season, Zuchowski was named to the AVCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Honorable Mention and First Team All-CSAC for the second straight year while freshman outside hitter Kristen Larkin earned Second Team All-CSAC honors and Heitman captured Honorable Mention All-CSAC accolades.
Keystone posted an 11-18 overall record in 2014 while going 4-7 in CSAC play under Coach Wentz. It marked the second-straight season in which the Giants posted double-digit wins, the first time Keystone accomplished the feat since beginning competition at the NCAA Division III level. Following the season, sophomore outside hitter Hannah Zuchowski was named AVCA Honorable Mention All-America, AVCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region, and First Team All-CSAC to become the first volleyball player in Keystone history to earn each of those honors.Â
In 2013, Coach Wentz led Keystone to their winningest season since joining the NCAA Division III level with a 16-16 overall record including a 5-6 mark in conference matches. The Giants' 16 wins were the most by a Keystone team since the 1993 season and it also marked the first time the team finished .500 or better since 1999. Following the season, freshman hitter Hannah Zuchowski was named Second Team All-CSAC while senior hitter Shelby Morgan earned Honorable Mention All-CSAC accolades.
The Giants made solid strides in 2012 under the guidance of Coach Wentz as the team increased both its overall and conference win totals from the previous season despite having just two seniors on the team. Junior hitter Shelby Morgan earned All-CSAC Honorable Mention Honors and five players were named to the CSAC Fall All-Academic Team.
Coach Wentz has also seen two of her former players become head coaches at the collegiate level as Shelby Morgan '14 took the lead at Cedar Crest College prior to the start of the 2014 season while Jackie Nat '15 was selected to lead Misericordia University's program before the 2016 season.
Prior to coming to Keystone, Coach Wentz was the head coach at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. While at F&M, Coach Wentz led her team to a regular season championship in 2002, along with being ranked regionally (2nd) and nationally (21st). Her 2002 squad finished the season with 28 wins, and her 2001 squad accomplished 22 wins while playing some of the toughest teams in Division III.
Coach Wentz has had the honor of coaching several outstanding student-athletes, including a NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship winner, one academic All-American and six All- Centennial Conference award winners. Each year her teams qualified for post season play and her teams have received the AVCA/Molten Team Academic Awards on two different occasions.
Coach Wentz earned her Masters of Education in Athletic Administration at Temple University, while serving as their assistant volleyball coach. While at Division I Temple, the squad won their third consecutive Atlantic 10 title in 1999 and competed in the NCAA tournament. Coach Wentz coached one All-American at Temple, and three Atlantic 10 All-Conference players.
At Lehigh University, where Coach Wentz got her collegiate coaching career started, she served under Patrick Nicholas as a second assistant coach. The 1998 squad reached twenty wins, and went on to compete in the Patriot League tournament.
Coach Wentz is a graduate of Muhlenberg College, where she received her bachelor’s degree in business administration. She was also a member of the Muhlenberg College volleyball team for four years. During that time, the Mules set a record of five consecutive 20-plus win seasons.
Coach Wentz resides in Clarks Summit, with her husband Jeremy and their four children, Jackson, Brielle and twins Colton and Caleena.
