Aston, PA (3-27-09) - Eric Groff doubled and homered while driving in five runs as Keystone downed Neumann College 11-7 in CSAC baseball action.
With the victory the Giants move to 14-4 over all and 1-0 in the CSAC, while Neumann fell to 11-10-1 and 2-2.
Neumann starter Kevin Lengyel started the game strong by retiring the first nine batters he faced, while being staked to a 2-0 lead after four innings.
The Giants finally got the bats going in the fifth when Donald Reese knotted things at two with a two run blast. Keystone would go ahead to stay in the sixth when Groff launched his sixth home run of the year, a two run blast, and was followed up by a
Ryan Smyth two run double as part of the four run sixth.
Keystone would score in each of the final three innings to ice the game.
Mike Hanley worked five and two-third to move to 4-0 on the year. Hanley allowed two earned runs on eight hits, while striking out three.
Esteban Meletichie collected three hits and scored three runs on the day for Keystone, while Ben Fish and
Drew Boandl each added doubles.
The same two teams return to action on Saturday for a doubleheader at Keystone. Game time is 1pm.
