Meletiche, Smyth, Leicht lead assault on Crimson Eagles

La Plume, PA (4-24-09) - Esteban Meletiche and Ryan Smyth each knocked out three hits each, while Kory Leicht hit a grand slam as part of Keystone's 18-hit attack as the Giants downed Philadelphia Biblical University 22-0.

The victory, Keystone's 20th in a row, moves their mark to 32-4 overall and 13-0 in the CSAC, while PBU falls to 0-18 and 0-9.

Keystone, which is ranked 5th and 14th in the latest division III baseball polls, also took advantage of several PBU miscues which included, six errors, six wild pitches, five hit-batsmen and four passed balls.

Smyth doubled and homered as part of his three hit day, while also scoring three times. with Meletiche doubling to go along with two singles.  Leicht, who drove in five on the day to lead the Giants, also scored three times.

Drew Boandl homered as part of a nine-run first inning in which the Giants sent 12 men to the plate.  Jayson Rohena also knocked out two hits.  

Keystone, which held a 9-0 lead after the second inning, went scoreless in the third and fourth, however the Giants would push across runs in each of the next four innings to add to the lead.

Brett Repard worked five innings to earn the win, as he moved to 8-0 on the year.  Repard struck out nine while allowing four hits.  

The Giants have already wrapped up the CSAC regualr season title and will host a playoff game on Wednesday May 6 before the playoffs shift to Boyertown, PA.

Keystone and PBU will return to the diamond tomorrow in Langhorne as the teams square off in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
