Giants stun Cyclones 60-53

Hackettstown, NJ (2-11-10) - Melinda Moore (Norwich, NY/Norwich) keyed a 10-0 Keystone run to close the game, as the Giants stunned Centenary College, 60-53 in women's CSAC basketball action.

With the victory Keystone moves to 5-15 overall and 3-9 in the CSAC, while Centenary falls to 12-10 and 9-5.

Keystone held the Cyclones scoreless over the final 3:57 of the contest, as the Giants placed all five starters in double digits in securing the win.

Trailing 53-50, Keystone's Ellen Fallon (Scranton, PA/Scranton) started the run with a jumper to draw the Giants within one. Moore's field goal with 3:22 to play gave the Giants the lead for good at 54-53.

Moore would add back-to-back jumpers over the next minute and a half to extend the lead to five.  Yasmeen Bates (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mountain West) capped off the night with a layup to seal the victory.

Fallon and Bates recorded double-doubles for the Giants, with each netting 10 points and pulling in 11 rebounds.  All 11 rebounds for Fallon came off the defensive glass.

Moore finished with a team high 14 to pace the Giants, while Sarah Barreto (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) added a dozen and Jazmine Harris (Fairfax, VA/James W. Robinson) 10.  Moore added seven rebounds, while Fallon recorded four steals.

Kristen Camuso poured in a game high 18 points to lead the Cyclones.  Marissa DiStasio also recorded a double-double with a 17-rebound and 10-point outing.

The Giants controlled the scoreboard for most of the opening half, building a lead as large as eight.  Centenary would storm back to take the lead back briefly before Keystone would take a one point lead into the locker room.

The teams would trade leads in the second half with the Cyclones holding the edge for over seven minutes in the latter part of the half before the Giants regained control behind the play of Moore.

Neither team shot very well on the night, but is was the Cyclones who struggled on their home floor shooting just 27% from the floor, while missing 10 free throws.  Keystone, who is usually a threat from long range, failed to convert a three on the night, going 0-7.

Keystone will return to action on Saturday at 2pm when they travel to Philadelphia Biblical University.
