Winter Haven, FL (3-10-10) - Ray Jackson hit a one out home run in the 10th inning to carry Keystone College to a 10-9 victory over Coe College.
Jackson's heroics were set up after Keystone squandered a seven run lead, including letting Coe score five runs over the last two innings.
Jackson's round tripper was his only hit of the day, as the senior finished with two RBI and two runs scored.
Eric Groff and
Ryan Smyth also homered for Keystone as part of the team's 13-hit attack. Smyth finished with three hits. Edwin Padua also knocked out three hits, scoring twice and driving in two.
Esteban Meletiche, who finished with two RBI on two hits, and Angel Fargas each added doubles.
Brad Higgins turned in a solid effort on the mound, going seven innings and allowing two earned runs and striking out three. However, Higgins lost a chance at the win after the bullpen let Coe make a game of it.
Mike Rossi earned the victory in relief despite giving up four runs, two earned, in two innings of work. Brian Stern earned the save.
The Giants big outburst came in the form of a five run fourth inning. Yazzy Arbello drew a one out walk and took second on a wild pitch. Donald Reese and Fargas worked two-out walks before Padua singled to left to drive in two.
After a walk to Jackson, Fargas came around to score on a wild pitch. Meletiche kept the two out rally going with a two run single to left to give the Giants a 7-2 lead at the time. Keystone would add two more runs in the fifth, before Coe began their comeback by scoring seven times from the sixth inning on.
