Somerset, NJ (9-1-10) - Freshman Charlice Brink made sure that the 2010 season would be no repeat of the 2009 campaign.
The Keystone women's soccer team, which failed to crack the win column last season, got their season started on a strong note as the Giants rode a four goal outburst by Brink to top College of St. Elizabeth, 4-3 in non-conference action.
The match was the season opener for both squads.
Keystone, which out-shot the Screaming Eagles 25-19, built a 3-0 lead before College of St. Elizabeth soared back to knot things at three. Brink converted the game winner at 74:31, scoring on an unassisted goal to give the Giants the win.
Another freshman, Rebecca Dinelli (Nanticoke, PA/Greater Nanticoke Area), recorded 11 stops in goal for Keystone.
Brink and the Giants wasted no time in getting on the board, scoring just 57 seconds into the game. Seleta Oakley (Nicholson, PA/Mountain View) assisted on the goal.
Brink added a pair of goals at 11:31 and 16:42, both unassisted, to put the Giants up 3-0. However, the Screaming Eagles bounced back with goals in the 20th and 27th minutes to draw within one by the break.
The home team was finally able to knot things up at three at 58:05 when Samantha Donlon scored off a Jasmine Bristol feed.
The teams remained tied until Brink's fourth goal of the game.
Keystone will return to action on Saturday September 11 at 1pm when they welcome D'Youville College to campus.
