Haverford, PA (5-8-11) - In their final tune-up before opening the CSAC playoffs on Wednesday, the Keystone College baseball team took both ends of its doubleheader at Haverford, 13-3 and 8-1.
With the sweep Keystone moves to 29-10 on the season, while Haverford falls to 32-10.
Keystone, which has now won nine straight and 12 of their last 13, enter the CSAC playoffs as the top seed for the third straight year. The Giants will host fourth seed Neumann University at 2pm at Christy Mathewson Field. The championship tournament will then continue on Friday and Saturday at Bear Stadium in Boyertown, PA.
In the opener Bryan Henry picked up three of Keystone's 16 hits, including hitting two home runs, as the Giants used an eight run third inning to break the game open. Henry drove in four and scored three.
Andy Vega and Gabe Torres also went deep for the Giants, with Vega knocking out three hits and Vega a pair. Vega also drove in three, while Torres picked up two RBI. Esteban Meletiche also added two hits.
Jeff Frost allowed three runs, scattering seven hits in picking up the win. The senior hurler also struck out five as the teams played a pair of nine inning games.
In the nightcap Rob Rogers allowed just one run in seven innings of work while striking out eight to earn the win.
Andrew Siano picked up three hits, including going deep twice, as he drove in three in game two. Meletiche added another two hits, including a home run, while picking up three RBI.
Vega, Lance Ractchford, Ricky Espinoza and Frank Mormino each picked up a double.
