Wild pitch gives Giants win

Rocky Mount, NC (3-9-12) - Esteban Meletiche scored on a wild pitch in the top of the 13th inning, sending Keystone to a 3-2 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan in non-conference baseball action.

With the victory the 14th ranked Giants move to 2-1 on the season, while Wesleyan falls to 9-11.

Meletiche, who picked up two hits and scored twice, led off the 13th with a base hit and moved to second on an Andrew Siano bunt.  Joshua Paradoa pinch hit and was given an intentional pass putting runners on first and second.

Gabriel Molina then followed with another base on balls, as ball four got by the catcher, scoring Meletiche with the winning run.

Siano picked up two hits and drove in one, while Justin Arroyo also drove in a run.

Mike Rossi picked up the win, tossing one inning of hitless ball.  Derek Alex worked a scoreless 13th to earn the save.

The Giants pitching staff was stellar on the afternoon.  Starter Mike Pembleton worked five innings, allowing one earned run and striking out three.  Andrew Eggleston threw six shut down innings, striking out five and not allowing a run.

Keystone, which struck out 19 times on the day, left 10 players on base, while the Battling Bishops stranded seven.

The Giants will return to action on Saturday by playing a pair of games in Ft. Pierce, FL.  They will square off against Penn State Behrend at noon and Alvernia at 3:30pm.
