Giants cap off series with sweep of Crimson Eagles

La Plume, PA (4-14-12) - Keystone College extended its season best winning streak to 12 games, as the Giants took both ends of its doubleheader with Philadelphia Biblical University 10-3 and 14-5.

With the sweep Keystone moves to 22-4 overall and 11-1 in conference play, while PBU falls to 4-23 and 1-11.

In the opener it took longer for the nation's seventh ranked team to wake up then they had hoped, as Keystone had to use a nine run sixth inning to erase a 3-1 hole to pull out the win.  In the decisive inning the first seven Giants to come to plate reached via a hit, while the first nine players reached base safely.

Frank Mormino and Brian Del Rosso each picked up two hits, with Del Rosso adding a double while also knocking in three.  Andrew Siano homered and John Comas doubled to account for the other extra base hits.  Esteban Meletiche and Siano each drove in a pair of runs.

After jumping out to a 1-0 in the first, Keystone saw the offense go silent as the Crimson Eagles pushed across two runs in the second and one in the fourth for a 3-1 lead.  The Giants finally responded by picking up eight hits in the decisive sixth frame.

Robert DePhillips picked up his first win of the season, working two perfect innings in relief.

In the nightcap the Crimson Eagles once again jumped out to an early lead with a two run first inning, however this time the Giants wasted no time in responding by pushing across four in the bottom half of the inning.  Keystone would score in every inning in which they came to plate.

Austin Straub knocked out three hits and scored four times to pace the Giants.  Del Rosso added another two hits to go with two RBI, while Miquel Castano added two doubles and two RBI.

Gabriel Molina and Lymbel Guerrero both went deep for the Giants, while Rickey Riscica tripled as part of Keystone's 13 hit attack.  Molina drove in four, while Guerrero add a pair of RBI.

Emmanual Roman notched his first win of the season, working five innings, allowing one earned run and striking out six.

The Giants will return to action on Sunday with a 1pm non-conference game at Oneonta.
