Bzozowski and Molina Power Giants Past Scarlet Raiders

Keystone wins fourth straight game with 4-2 victory over Rutgers-Newark

La Plume, PA – Chris Bzozowski (Westampton, NJ/Bishop Eustace) hit a solo home run in the second inning and Gabriel Molina (Bronx, NY/James Monroe) connected for a go-ahead two run shot in the seventh inning to lead Keystone College to a 4-2 victory over Rutgers-Newark in non-conference baseball action on Thursday afternoon at Christy Mathewson Field.  The Giants, currently ranked 13th in the nation, improve to 15-5 on the season with their fourth straight win.

Rutgers-Newark took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on an RBI groundout by Ryan McFarlane, but Keystone answered in the home half of the frame when Bzozowski blasted a towering solo home run down the left field line.

The Scarlet Raiders loaded the bases with one out in the visitor's sixth on a pair of base hits followed by a walk, and after an infield fly rule out, Rutgers-Newark took the lead when the Giants' pitcher was called for a balk.

Keystone matched the visitors by loading the bases with one out in the bottom half of the inning, but the Scarlet Knights turned an inning-ending, six-four-three double play to escape the jam.

Jhonattan Santelises (Lynn, MA/Lynn English ) led of the Giants' seventh with a pinch hit walk and pinch runner Anthony Muccio (Tarrytown, NY/Archbishop Stepinac) advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Domenick Montanaro (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township) before moving to third on a Gaston Rojas (Carmel, NY/Carmel) groundout.  On a three-two pitch with two outs, Gabriel Ramirez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Perkiomen School) doubled just inside the first base line to score the game before Molina ripped a two run homer to left field on the first pitch he saw from Scarlet Raiders' reliever Chris Nichols.

After Justin Martinez (Bronx, NY/Clifton) retired the side in order in the top of the eighth inning, Adam Krebs (Commack, NY/Commack) came on in the ninth and notched his second consecutive save, striking out two batters in the final inning.

Keystone starter Felix Lopez (Brooklyn, NY/Grand Street Campus) allowed just one hit and one run while striking out four and walking four in five innings of work.  Michael Meszoros (Bridgeport, CT/Bassick) struck out and allowed a run and two hits in an inning of work while Adam Sosnowski (Dickson City, PA/Mid-Valley) picked up the win while allowing a hit and striking a batter in a scoreless seventh inning.

Bzozowski and Ramirez each went 2-4 with a RBI apiece while Rojas added a pair of hits in the win for Keystone.  Molina's two RBIs led the Giants, who recorded 11 hits on the day.

Rutgers-Newark was led by Brian Kokos, who went 2-4 at the plate.  Andrew Nasti went six innings on the mound for the Scarlet Raiders, striking out five and allowing one run on five hits.  Ryan Staub suffered the loss after being charged for two runs in two-thirds of inning while Nichols finished off the game for the visitors on the hill.

Keystone returns to action on Monday afternoon when they host Immaculata University in a Colonial States Athletic Conference doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in La Plume.
