Defending CSAC Champion Cabrini Takes Down Keystone

Scepaniak posts match-high 12 digs as Giants fall to Cavaliers in three sets

Radnor, PA – Defending Colonial States Athletic Conference champion Cabrini College remained unbeaten in league play this fall with a 3-0 victory over visiting Keystone College in women's volleyball action on Wednesday night.  The Cavaliers improve to 14-5 overall and an unblemished 5-0 in the conference while the Giants slip to 9-12 on the season and 3-4 in the CSAC.
 
Cabrini claimed the first set 25-13 before a much tighter second set that features six ties and four lead changes went in favor of the hosts, 25-18, to give the Cavaliers a 2-0 edge.  Cabrini closed out the victory with a 25-14 decision in the third game.
 
Chelsea Jones had 14 kills and two aces while Anne-Marie Jones added 12 kills and two aces to lead Cabrini's attack.  Cassidy Koenig dished out 22 assists while Amy Guarino added 16 helpers.  Kelly Guarino paced the Cavaliers with 11 digs while Nicole Sokolovich picked up 10 digs for the hosts, who posted a solid, .320 hitting percentage on the night.
 
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) paced Keystone offensively with 11 kills and collected six digs while Shatia Silas (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) contributed six kills for the Giants.  Carol Mosier (Hunlock Creek, PA/Lake-Lehman) handed out a team-leading 18 assists in the loss while Ciera Scepaniak (Vestal, NY/Vestal) led all players with 12 digs in the match.
 
Nicki Yeager (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) contributed six digs for Keystone, who got blocks from Zuchowski and Jackie Nat (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin) while Scepaniak served up the team's lone ace on the night.  For the match, Keystone posted a .133 hitting percentage as a team.
 
Keystone will host Notre Dame of Maryland University on Friday evening in a pivotal CSAC match to kickoff Homecoming Weekend activities.  First serve between the Giants and Gators is set for 7:00 p.m. in the Gambal Athletic Center.
