Scranton, PA – Keystone College earned an exciting, 4-3 victory at Marywood University on Wednesday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference field hockey action, but Immaculata University got the final bid to the CSAC playoffs after the Giants, Pacers, and Mighty Macs finished in a three-way tie for fourth place overall. Marywood opened the scoring 4:21 into Wednesday afternoon's contest when Leanne McManus found herself alone in front of Keystone's cage and faked twice before pushing a shot past Keystone goalkeeper
Emily Hawkins (Glenside, PA/Cheltenham) to give the Pacers an early 1-0 advantage.
Keystone leveled the game at 1-1 just 2:21 later when
Breanna Paulson (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) fired home a shot to the left side of the host's cage. The Giants then took a 2-1 lead at the 8:34 mark when
Gabby Gerschwiler (Leonardtown, MD/Leonardtown) found Paulson wide open on the weak side where the sophomore tapped in her sixth goal of the season.
A minute after
Kaelyn Englert (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton) made a defensive save to keep Keystone's in front,
Bianca Dolac (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) extended the Giants lead to 3-1 in the 14
th minute of play with an unassisted goal as the freshman stole the ball from Marywood's goalie before shooting it into the vacant net. The Pacers cut their deficit to 3-2 in the 18
th minute when Gabriella Bower deflected a shot into the top of the cage.
The Giants would hold the one-goal edge at halftime despite being outshot by the Pacers 9-4 in the opening 35 minutes of play.
Marywood was able to tie the contest at three-apiece in the 53
rd minute of play when Tori Jo Kakusian scored off of feed from Julie Kowalski on a penalty corner, but Keystone went back in front, 4-3, on Dolac's second goal of the game and sixth of the season, which came off the rebound of a
