Zuchowski Breaks Kills Record as Keystone Sweeps Cedar Crest

Sophomore now has 798 career kills to break Shelby Morgan’s record

La Plume, PA – Sophomore Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) recorded a match-high 20 kills and broke Keystone College's all-time record for career kills on Wednesday night to lead Keystone College to a three-set sweep of Cedar Crest College in Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball action in the Gambal Athletic Center.  The Giants lift their overall record to 11-17 on the season while improving to 4-6 in conference play with the victory.

Prior to Saturday's match, Keystone honored Jackie Nat (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin), the team's lone senior, for her career achievements in celebration of Senior Night.

Zuchowski broke former teammate and current volunteer assistant coach Shelby Morgan (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights)'s previous kills record of 781 with a kill in the first set of Wednesday night's match.  The sophomore, who was presented the game ball by Morgan after the historic kill, now has 798 kills for her career in less than two full seasons.

Keystone battled their way to a 26-24 victory in the first set against  Cedar Crest (3-21, 3-7 CSAC) before taking a 2-0 lead with a 25-14 victory in the second game.  The Giants then closed out the match with a 25-20 decision in the third set.

Zuchowski's match-high 20 kills came on 46 total attacks for a .370 hitting percentage.  The sophomore also contributed three service aces, tied with teammate Anya Cerniglia (Great Meadows, NJ/Hackettstown) and the Falcons Ericka Clayton for a match-best.  Ciera Scepaniak (Vestal, NY/Vestal) added five kills for the Giants, who hit .234 as a team in the win.

Carol Mosier (Hunlock Creek, PA/Lake-Lehman) picked up her fourth double-double of the year on match-high 25 assists to go along with 11 digs while Dana Carey (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) also picked up 11 kills on the night.

Rebecca Grady led Cedar Crest with six kills while Celina Danish dished out a team-leading 16 assists in the loss.  Kaylee Martinez paced all players with 17 digs and Clayton added 10 digs as the Falcons held a slim, 50-48 edge in digs for the evening.  Keystone limited Cedar Crest to just a .024 hitting percentage for the contest.

Keystone will close out the 2014 season on Saturday afternoon with a CSAC match at Immaculata University.  First serve between the Giants and Mighty Macs is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Immaculata, Pennsylvania.
