Doylestown, PA –
Eddy Enowbi (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) scored the only goal of Wednesday night's non-conference men's soccer game at Delaware Valley College in the 53
rd minute off of a
Djavan Guy (New York, N.Y./St. John's Prep) assist and Keystone College's defense made it stand as the Giants notched a 1-0 victory on the road.
Anthony Cutillo (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) made seven saves in goal to pick up the shutout as Keystone improved to 3-2 on the season and handed the Aggies (2-1-1) their first loss of the 2014 campaign.
Through just five games this season, the Giants have now already matched their win total from last fall when the team posted a 3-14-2 overall record.
The two teams played an even opening 45 minutes of play in Wednesday night's contest with both sides generating six shots apiece. Keystone held a 5-3 advantage in shots in the first half, but Delaware Valley goalkeeper Austin Brotman kept the Giants off the board while Cutillo was up the task at the other end to keep the game scoreless.
After being denied by Brotman four times in the opening 13 minutes of the game, Enowbi solved the Aggies' net-minder 7:12 into the second half. Guy lobbed a pass into Delaware Valley's penalty area where Enowbi ran onto it and chipped the ball over Brotman and into the back of the net for his team-leading fourth tally of the season. Enowbi's tally would prove to be his third game-winner of the season while Guy's assist marked the first point of his collegiate career.
Keystone nearly doubled their lead in the 62
nd minute, but
Julio Pertuz's (Caracas, Venezuela/EU Noestra Senora de las Mercedes) shot rang off the goal post to keep the hosts within striking distance, but Cutillo stopped all three shots that Delaware Valley put on target after Enowbi's goal to record his second shutout in the Giants' last three games and the team's third clean sheet of the year.
In an evenly played game, Delaware Valley held a slim, 13-12 edge in shots for the game while Keystone claimed an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks on the evening.
Brotman and Cutillo both finished the game with seven saves apiece in between the pipes for their respective teams.
The Giants will return to action on Monday afternoon when they travel to Phoenixville, Pennsylvania to take on Valley Forge Christian College in a non-conference game scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
