Jazmyn Robinson (Hyattsville, MD/Northwestern) became Keystone College's all-time leader in steals for a career and all 10 Giants who saw playing time scored points as Keystone cruised to an 85-39 victory over Baptist Bible College in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball action on Wednesday evening in the Gambal Athletic Center. The Giants level their overall record at 7-7 on the season while improving to 4-1 in conference play with the win.
With her steal at the 12:50 mark of the first half, Robinson broke Keystone's all-time career steals record which was previously 299 and established by Ellen Fallon from 2008-2011. Robinson now has 303 career thefts for her career in a Giants' uniform.
Keystone raced out to a 27-5 lead over the first 8:55 of Wednesday night's contest, and after Baptist Bible narrowed their deficit to 29-10 at the 7:27 mark, the Giants used a 10-2 run to extend their advantage to 39-12 with 3:30 remaining in the period. The hosts would go on to hold a commanding 30-point lead at the break, 47-17.
Robinson led all scorers in the first half with 15 points to go along with six steals and three assists while
Cierra Hensley (Frederick, MD/Frederick) added 12 points and five rebounds for the Giants.
AAliya Hayes (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) chipped in the seven points in the opening stanza while
Maria DiMartin (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) also had three helpers for the hosts, who shot 48.6 percent from the floor in the first stanza while going 1-6 from three-point range and 10-12 from the free throw line.
Alyssa Cole and Callie Kitowski paced Baptist Bible with six first half points apiece with Kitowski leading all players with eight boards. Danyel Bird chipped in five points for the Defenders, who connected on 26.3 percent of their field goal attempts in the period while going 1-2 from beyond the arc and 6-11 from the charity stripe.
Keystone pushed their advantage to 74-24 midway through the second half and led by as many as 52 points while cruising to their second-straight victory to bring their overall record back to the .500 mark as all 10 Giants who saw action scored at least two points apiece.
Keystone was led offensively by a trio of players – Robinson, Hensley, and
Alyssa Cuomo (Odessa, DE/Hodgson Vo-tech) – who each scored 15 points in the victory. Hayes finished the contest with nine points while
Ashley Evans (Wooster, OH/Wooster) and
Samantha Donahue (Taylor, PA/Riverside) contributed eight points apiece.
Robinson added game-highs of seven steals and five assists for the Giants while Cuomo and
Dyjae Williams (Newark, NJ/Bloomfield Tech) led the squad with eight rebounds apiece. For the game, Keystone hit on 43.8 percent of their field goal attempts while going 35.7 percent from downtown and 66.7 percent from the line.
Kitowski paced Baptist Bible with a double-double on game-highs of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Cole added seven points, three assists and a pair of steal while Katie Crock chipped in with three helpers in the loss. The Defenders ended the night shooting 33.3 percent from both the field and from three-point range while going 60 percent from the stripe.
Keystone will travel to Langhorne, Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon to take on Cairn University in a conference matchup slated to tipoff at 1:00 p.m.
