Volleyball Wins a Pair in Baltimore to Improve to 14-3

Giants remain unbeaten in CSAC with win over Notre Dame of Maryland before topping Goucher

Baltimore, MD – Keystone College continued their best start in program history by winning a pair of volleyball matches on Saturday, remaining unbeaten in Colonial States Athletic Conference play with a four-set win over Notre Dame of Maryland University before defeating Goucher College in four sets in a non-conference contest.  The two wins lift the Giants' record to 14-3 overall and 5-0 in the CSAC.
 
In Saturday's opener against Notre Dame of Maryland (7-7, 2-2 CSAC), Keystone won the first set 25-21 before the Gators leveled the match with a 25-23 decision in the second set.  The Giants responded with a 25-20 victory in game three before securing the win with a 25-13 triumph in the fourth set.
 
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 11 digs while Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) put down 10 kills to go along with a season-high seven digs.  Shatia Silas (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) added four kills and a match-best four blocks in the victory.
 
Carol Mosier (Hunlock Creek, PA/Lake-Lehman) added her fifth double-double of the year with a team-best 20 assist to go along with 13 digs Giants while Sydney Binkley (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) dished out 12 helpers to go along with nine digs and a pair of service aces.
 
Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) led   Keystone with 20 digs in the match against the Gators.
 
Notre Dame of Maryland was paced by Ashley Pasker's match-leading 18 kills while Cassidy Keller collected seven kills in the loss.  Jaime Reyes notched a double-double with 30 assists, 10 digs, five kills, and three aces, Cleaya Antes dug a match-best 22 balls, and Grace Park added 18 digs for the Gators.
 
In the nightcap against Goucher (7-15), Keystone won the first set 25-21 but again fell dropped a 25-23 decision in the second set to see the match knotted up 1-1.  The Giants went back in front with a 25-18 win the game three before sealing their second win of the day with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.
 
Zuchowski recorded her second double-double of the day and fifth of the season with a match-high 16 kills to go along with 14 digs.  Larkin added nine kills while Ashley Williams (Virginia Beach, VA/Green Run) put down four kills against the Gophers.
 
Binkley contributed her third double-double of the fall with a team-best 24 assists to go along with 10 digs and three aces while Mosier added 15 assists and nine digs. 
Heitman picked up a match-high 38 digs and tied with Binkley for the match-lead with three aces while Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, NY/Hauppauge) and Shaylah Ware (Newark, NJ/Science Park) each had nine digs for the Giants. 
 
Goucher had a trio of players in double-figures for kills, paced by Kelly Budge's 14.  Hannah Kuehl collected 13 kills while Michelle Tweedie had 11 kills for the Gophers.  Meredith Johnson led Goucher with 21 digs, Budge rounded out a double-double with 14 digs, and Paige Smith and Sarah Johnson each had 11 digs in the loss.  Johnson also gave out a match-high 39 assists to complete a double-double of her own.
 
Keystone will look to remain unbeaten in conference play on Wednesday when they travel to Neumann University for a CSAC match starting at 7:00 p.m. in Aston, Pennsylvania.
