Aston, PA – Neumann University snapped Keystone College's six-match winning streak on Wednesday night with a three-set victory over the Giants in Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball action. The Knights boost their overall record to 11-15 on the season and 5-2 in conference play while Keystone slips to 14-4 this fall and 5-1 in the CSAC after suffering their first loss in league play.
Neumann took a 1-0 lead on Wednesday evening with a 25-15 win the match's first set before doubling their lead with a 25-17 decision in set two. The Knights closed out the match with a 25-15 win in the third set.
Rachel Hoffman record a match-high 11 kills to lead Neumann, who also got seven kills from Anna Waltz and six from Julia Malseed.
Kat Wolf led all players with 29 assists, 14 digs, and five service aces for the hosts while Waltz picked up 12 digs on the night. Malseed added eight digs while Hoffman and Sarah Sanderson had two blocks apiece for the Knights.
Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) led Keystone's attack with seven kills,
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) added five kills, and
Ashley Williams (Virginia Beach, VA/Green Run) record a pair of kills in the loss.
Sydney Binkley (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) paced the Giants with 11 assists while
Carol Mosier (Hunlock Creek, PA/Lake-Lehman) handed out a pair of helpers.
Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) picked up a team-leading 16 digs, Zuchowski had 10 digs, and
Shaylah Ware (Newark, NJ/Science Park) added four digs for the visitors. Heitman and Larkin added two aces apiece while Larkin, Zuchowski, and Williams each record two blocks apiece for the visitors in the match.
Keystone will look to get back in the win column on Friday night when they host Summit University in a CSAC match. First serve between the Giants and Defenders is set for 7:00 p.m. in the Gambal Athletic Center as Keystone opens its Homecoming Weekend events.
