La Plume, PA – Keystone College's volleyball team kicked of Homecoming Weekend with a three-set sweep of Summit University in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match in the Ace Spalding Arena on Friday night. The Giants (6-1) set a new program record for conference wins in a season by moving to 6-1 in the CSAC this fall.
Summit (2-18, 1-6 CSAC) battled Keystone tightly through the first two sets, but the Giants were able to take a 2-0 advantage with a pair of identical, 25-21 victories on the first two stanzas. The hosts then sealed their 15
th win of the season with a dominating, 25-9 win in the third set.
Keystone served up 20 aces in the match, led by five from
Sydney Binkley (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North).
Ashley Williams (Virginia Beach, VA/Green Run) and
Carol Mosier (Hunlock Creek, PA/Lake-Lehman) had four aces while
Shaylah Ware (Newark, NJ/Science Park) added three aces.
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) collected a team-high seven kills to go along with four digs while Williams and
Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) put down five kills apiece.
Shatia Silas (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) also contributed four kills on the night.
Binkley and Mosier tied for the team-lead with eight assists apiece while
Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) gave out five helpers in the contest.
Larkin led the Giants with six digs and a pair of blocks while Heitman added five digs in the victory.
Callie Kitowski recorded a match-high eight kills and tied with teammate Jessie Klumbach for a match-best with seven digs for Summit. Jacklyn Simpson picked up four kills for the Defenders while Samantha Snow led all players with 10 assists to go along with five digs. Simpson also had five digs in the loss.
Keystone will be back in action on Saturday morning with a CSAC match at Cedar Crest College. First serve between the Giants and Falcons is set for 11:00 a.m. in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
