Rosemont, PA –
Ofentse Kale (Derwood, MD/Magruder) netted the first goal of his collegiate career with 17:05 remaining in regulation to lift Keystone College to a 2-1 victory at Rosemont College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer game on Saturday afternoon. The Giants, who also got a goal from
Aadil Mendez (Brooklyn, NY/Pocono Mountain East) and two assists from
Eddy Enowbi (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook), level their overall record at 4-4-1 on the season while improving to 1-1 in conference play with the win.
Battling heavy rain and winds, Keystone dominated play in the first half, outshooting Rosemont (0-9-1, 0-2 CSAC) 12-4 over the opening 45 minutes of play, but it took until the Giants took their 12
th shot with just 58 seconds left in the stanza for the visitors to take 1-0. Enowbi served a cross from the right side to Mendez, who ripped a bullet into the right side netting for his second goal of the season to give Keystone a 1-0 lead at the break.
Despite being outplayed in the first half, the Ravens took advantage of a set piece in the 55
th minute to level the score. Javier Alvarado took a hard shot on the restart from 25 yards out that found the upper left corner of the net to equalize the match at 1-1.
After yielding the game-tying goal, Keystone reclaimed control of the contest and forged back in front in the 73
rd minute. Enowbi again played a dangerous cross into the area that Kale buried into the left side of the net from five yards out with what would prove to stand as the game-winning goal. Kale's goal was the first of his collegiate career while Enowbi's helper was his fourth of the season which leads the CSAC.
Keystone, who held a commanding, 25-6 advantage in shots for the game, did not give up another shot for Rosemont after Kale's tally to notch their first conference win of the season. The Giants also held a 13-3 edge in shots on goal and generated 13 corner kicks with surrendering any end-line opportunities for the hosts.
Adam Zbiciak (Saint Johns, MI/St. Johns) picked up the win in goal for Keystone by making two saves in 90 minutes of action while Zach Bowe made 11 stops in the loss for Rosemont, who also had a ball cleared of the goal line by a defender.
Enowbi led Keystone with six shots,
Haris Sabovic (Brodheadsville, PA/Pleasant Valley) attempted five shots, and Mendez had four shots to pace the Giants' offense on the day.
Keystone will host Summit University on Tuesday night in a CSAC game starting at 7:05 p.m. at the Giants' turf field in La Plume. The game between the local rivals will be broadcast by Fox 56 Sports on local television.
