La Plume, PA –
Eddy Enowbi (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) scored his second goal of the game 4:10 into overtime to lift Keystone College to a thrilling, 2-1 victory over Summit University before a spirited crowd in a Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer game that was broadcast live by Fox 56 Sports on Tuesday night.
Adam Zbiciak (Saint Johns, MI/St. Johns) made a huge save early in the extra session to set up Enowbi's heroics for the Giants, who improved to 5-4-1 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
A rebroadcast of Tuesday night's game can be seen on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. on My TV WQMY.
Keystone held the territorial advantage over the first quarter hour of Tuesday night's contest, but Summit broke through first by taking advantage of a counterattack in the 18
th minute of play. Wesley Pincince picked up a loose ball in the Giants' penalty area and fired a hard-angled shot just inside the far post to give the Defenders a 1-0 advantage.
Despite conceding the game's first goal, Keystone responded by continuing to dictate play through the remainder of the first half, but was unable to find the equalizer before halftime.
Ofentse Kale (Derwood, MD/Magruder) and
Rolando Rodriguez (Linden, NJ/Linden) both had shots just miss the target as the hosts trailed at the break despite holding a 7-4 advantage in shots over the opening 45 minutes of play.
Keystone finally drew level 7:28 into the second half as
Djavan Guy (New York, NY/St. John's Prep) made a dangerous run into Defenders' penalty area before being hauled down by a Summit player to earn a penalty kick. Enowbi stepped up to the spot and made no mistake, burying his sixth goal of the season to knot the score at 1-1.
Guy nearly put the Giants in front with just over 28 minutes left in the second half, but Summit goalkeeper Ben Campbell made a nice diving save to deny the sophomore's goal-bound header. Guy had several golden opportunities over the next 18 minutes, but his close-range shot went just wide of the far post with 20 minutes left, Campbell made a great save on a short breakaway before Guy rang a 20-yard shot off the crossbar with just over 10 minutes showing on the clock.
Campbell came up huge for the visitors with four and a half minutes left in regulation, sprawling out to deny Enowbi's rocket from the top of the box and help send the game to overtime. Keystone and Summit have now gone to overtime in each of their last four meetings, with the Giants holding a 3-0-1 record in that time.
Summit nearly stole the win just 1:45 into overtime when Ian Self escaped on a breakaway, but Keystone goalkeeper Zbiciak came up huge, stoning the Defenders' bid at the game-winner.
After striking a shot just wide moments earlier, Enowbi picked up a ball at the corner of the penalty area in the 95
th minute of play, dribbled to the top of the box, and laced a left-footed shot from 20 yards out just inside the left goalpost to give Keystone the dramatic, 2-1 victory.
The Giants held a commanding, 29-6 advantage in shots for the game while holding an 11-4 edge in shots on goal. The hosts also generated seven corner kicks to none for the Defenders.
Zbiciak picked up the win in goal by making three stops, none bigger than his stop in early in overtime. Campbell suffered the loss for Summit despite an eight-save performance including several spectacular stops.
Keystone will travel to Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon for a CSAC contest that is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. in Immaculata, Pennsylvania.
