Allentown, PA – Keystone College's women's basketball team shot a season-high 61.2 percent from the field on Tuesday evening and cruised to a 95-41 victory at Cedar Crest College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference game. The Giants, who built a 61-21 lead at halftime, levels their overall record at 11-11 and improves to 8-5 in conference play while the Falcons fall to 5-17 on the year and 4-10 in the CSAC.
Keystone, who defeated Cedar Crest 80-42 in the team's first meeting on December 3
rd in La Plume, completed the season sweep of the Falcons after tying for a season-high with 41 made field goals on Tuesday.
The Giants raced out to a 30-9 advantage over the opening seven and a half minutes of Tuesday evening's contest and would lead by as many as 42 points before taking the 61-21 advantage into the locker room at halftime after shooting 63.4 percent from the floor while going 5-10 from three-point range in the opening 20 minutes of play.
Alyssa Cuomo (Odessa, DE/Hodgson Vo-tech) paced Keystone with 20 points in the first stanza,
AAliya Hayes (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) added 12 points and eight rebounds, and
Ashley Evans (Wooster, OH/Wooster) contributed nine points in the half.
Kayleigh Keggan paced Cedar Crest with five points in the opening frame while Denyell Spignola, Breonna Lewis, and Shemaca Thompson chipped in with four points apiece for the Falcons, who converted on 30.4 percent of their field goal attempts in the period.
The Giants scored the first seven points of the second half and would lead by as many as 56 points while cruising to their second-straight conference victory as 10 of the 11 players for Keystone who saw playing time scored at least two points.
Cuomo's 20 points would stand as the game-high while Hayes recorded her second double-double of the season on 18 points and game-best 10 rebounds. Evans finished with 12 points, four assists, and tied for a game-high with three steals while
Jerica Rode (Lords Valley, PA/Wallenpaupack) netted 11 points.
Jazmyn Robinson (Hyattsville, MD/Northwestern) was the fifth Keystone player in double-figures with 10 points while leading all players with five assists in the win.
Cierra Hensley (Frederick, MD/Frederick) contributed eight points for the Giants while
Maria DiMartin (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) added six points on the night.
Keggan finished with a game-high 10 points for Cedar Crest, who got eight points apiece from Spignola and Lewis. The hosts finished the contest hitting on 33.3 percent of their field goal attempts while going 3-9 from beyond the arc and 6-13 from the free throw line.
The Giants held a commanding, 38-19 advantage on the glass for the game and were plus-four (13-17) in the turnover department.
Keystone will be right back in action on Wednesday evening as they host Rosemont College in a critical conference matchup slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Gambal Athletic Center in La Plume. The Giants erased a 28-point deficit at Rosemont on December 6
th to edge the Ravens, 86-84, in the first meeting between the two teams this season.
