Keystone Eliminated From Playoff Contention With 73-65 Setback to Marywood

Immaculata captures sixth and final playoff spot with 74-61 win at Neumann

La Plume, PA – Marywood University shot 55 percent from the floor in the second half of Wednesday night's Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball finale at Keystone College and held the Giants to just 28 percent shooting in the half pick up the win on the road, 73-65.  The Pacers (14-11, 9-9 CSAC) got the win they needed, but Immaculata University's victory at Neumann University dashed the playoff hopes of both Marywood and Keystone (9-16, 9-9 CSAC) as the Mighty Macs claimed the final spot in the conference playoffs.
 
Wednesday' night's contest, which was televised live by Fox 56 Sports, marked the final game in a Keystone uniform for seniors Steve Aniska (Scranton, PA/West Scranton), Dan Candemeres (Holbrook, NY/Sachem East), Isiah A. Curry (Boston, MA/Health Careers Academy), Miles Dargan (Orlando, FL/Wekiva), Rashaud Kelley (Sharon, PA/Paul Laurence Dunbar), and Duncan Lunsford (Marietta, GA/Sprayberry).  Fox 56 Sports will replay Wednesday night's game on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. locally on My TV, WQMY.
 
With Marywood holding a 15-12 edge with just under remaining in the first half before Lunsford hit back-to-back three-pointers to give Keystone an 18-15 advantage at the 7:01 mark.  The teams would go back and forth of the next two minutes and, tied at 19-19 with 4:17 left, the Giants used a 10-0 run to open up a 29-19 advantage before taking a 34-25 lead into halftime. 
 
Lunsford led the Giants with 14 points in the opening 20 minutes of play while Dargan chipped in with eight points in the period for the Giants, who shot 50 percent from the field in the first stanza while going 5-12 from three-point range and 7-9 from the free throw line.
 
Shane Kellaher paced Marywood with 10 points in the opening frame while Alex Barr chipped in with seven points for the Pacers, who connected on 40.9 percent of their attempts from the floor in the half while going 4-9 from downtown and 3-7 from the charity stripe.
 
Keystone held a 37-27 lead two and a half minutes into the second half before Marywood embarked on a 29-11 run to claim a 56-48 advantage with 7:36 left in regulation.  The visitors pushed their lead to nine points before the Giants narrowed their deficit to 60-55 with 4:04 showing on the clock, but that was as close as the hosts would come as the Pacers pulled away to complete the season sweep.
 
Kellaher led Marywood with 22 points on the evening while Cameron Dean added 17 points and nine rebounds.  Conner Callejas added 10 points while Jonathan Velazquez finished with a game-high 11 rebounds for the Pacers, who shot 49.1 percent from the field for the game while going 7-16 from beyond the arc and 14-22 from the line.
 
Keystone's Lunsford tied for a game-high with 22 points to lead for Giants in double-figures.  DaVaughn Roberts-Thomas (Port Arthur, TX/Silsbee) need 15 points and corralled a team-best nine boards, Dargan finished with 14 points, and Candemeres added 10 points for the hosts, who got a pair of blocked shots from Kelley.  For the game, Keystone connected on 36.2 percent of their field goal attempts while going just 6-29 from downtown and hitting on 17 of 24 free throw attempts.
