Mighty Macs Pull Away From Giants, 61-41

Garrett lead Keystone with 13 points in loss to Immaculata

La Plume, Pa. - Reilly Larkin scored a game-high 28 points and Theresa Walsh added a double-double to lift Immaculata University to a 61-41 victory over Keystone College in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball contest on Wednesday evening. The Mighty Macs boost their overall record to 3-12 on the year and 3-3 in conference play while the Giants slide to 6-9 overall and 3-4 in the CSAC.

Immaculata built a 10-3 lead over the first 7:50 of Wednesday's contest and would hold a 12-7 advantage at the end of the first period. Dyjae Williams (Newark, NJ/Bloomfield Tech), who scored the final basket of the opening stanza, opened the second quarter with a field goal to cut Keystone's deficit to 12-9 before the Mighty Macs used an 8-2 spurt to open up a 20-11 advantage at the 6:54 mark of the second period.

The Giants narrowed their deficit to 24-19 on a Brianna Nolen (Union Bridge, MD/Walkersville) three-pointer with just under three minutes remaining in the half, but the visitors would take a 30-23 lead into the halftime intermission.

Larkin had 18 points and six rebounds to lead all players in the first half while Gina Cocci netted eight points for Immaculata, who shot 37.9 percent from the field over the first two periods including a 5-15 effort from downtown and a 3-3 showing at the free throw line.

Williams led Keystone with six points while April Acosta (Bronx, NY/Evander Childs) and Bryce Garrett (Philadelphia, PA/John Bartram) netted five points apiece in the first half. Acosta pulled down a team-best four rebounds for the Giants, who shot 22.2 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of play while going 3-10 from three-point range and 4-7 from the charity stripe.

Immaculata pushed their lead to 13 points midway through the third period and scored the final eight points of the frame to hold a 46-27 lead heading into the final 10 minutes of play. Keystone narrowed their deficit to 48-33 at the 6:08 mark of the fourth quarter, but that was as close as the Giants would come as the Mighty Macs pulled away with the 20-point victory.

Larkin finished with a game-high 28 points for Immaculata while Walsh added a double-double on 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds while dishing out three assists in the win. Immaculata, who held a 57-31 advantage on the glass, shot 40.4 percent from the field for the game including a 30 percent clip from beyond the arc and a 76.5 percent showing from the line.

Garrett led Keystone with 13 points while Acosta netted nine points to go along with three steals. Williams chipped in with six points, Samantha Donahue (Taylor, PA/Riverside) dished out two helpers, and Nolen added three steals. Breelyn Johnson-Fite (Bogota, NJ/Bergen County Technical) paced the Giants with five rebounds in the loss. The hosts, who forced Immaculata into 26 turnovers while giving the ball away 15 times themselves, shot 22.6 percent from the field, 25 percent from downtown, and 50 percent from the stripe on the evening.

Keystone will enjoy a week off before returning home to host local conference rival Summit University in a contest that will tipoff at 6:00 p.m. in the Gambal Athletic Center.
