La Plume, Pa. – Keystone College remain unbeaten in Colonial States Athletic Conference play with a three-set sweep before having its winning streak snapped at 10 matches in a thrilling, five-set setback to Dickinson College on Saturday afternoon. The Giants see their record move to 10-5 this fall including a perfect, 6-0 in the CSAC.
Match 1 vs. Notre Dame of Maryland
In Saturday's opener against Notre Dame (9-3, 3-2 CSAC), Keystone overcame a slow start to win the first set 25-20 before taking a 2-0 advantage with a 25-18 decision in game two. The Giants then closed out their 10
th consecutive win with a 25-18 triumph in the third set.
Malley Bowen (Owego, N.Y./Tioga Central) posted a double-double on a match-high 24 assists to go along with 11 kills while
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) led all players with 15 kills and three service aces in the contest.
Taylor Beatty (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) chipped in with eight kills for Keystone, who posted a .333 hitting percentage in the win.
Sydney Binkley (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) handed out 15 assists while
Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) led all players with 17 digs in the win.
Cassidy Keller led the Gators with eight kills, Jamie Reyes had 19 assists, and Cleya Antes picked up 13 digs. As a team, Notre Dame hit .053 in the loss.
Match 2 vs. Dickinson
In Saturday's second match against Dickinson (8-8), Keystone won the first set 25-16 before the Red Devils leveled the contest with a 25-22 decision in the second set. The two teams traded 25-22 decision over the next two games to set up a decisive fifth set, which Dickinson won by a narrow, 16-14 margin.
Lauren Ahern led all players with 16 kills for the visitors while Erin Bongo put down 13 kills. Leah Guzick had 21 assists and Alex Berezen dished out 20 helpers for Dickinson, who posted a .190 hitting percentage as a team.
Arielle Misrock picked up 22 digs while Bongo rounded out a double-double with 15 digs for Dickinson.
Amanda Hardy (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) powered Keystone with 12 kills, Beatty had nine kills, and Zuchowski picked up eight kills to pair with a team-best 14 digs.
Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) added seven kills for the hosts in the loss.
Bowen led all players with 28 assists to go along with 13 digs for her second double-double of the day. Binkley led the Giants with three aces to go along with eight helpers in the nightcap.
Keystone hit .127 as a team in the loss to the Red Devils.
