Radnor, Pa. – Cabrini College remained unbeaten in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's volleyball action on Thursday night, defeating visiting Keystone College in three sets in a battle of the conference's two remaining unbeaten teams. The Cavaliers improve to 7-10 overall and 5-0 in the CSAC with their 42
nd consecutive conference victory while the Giants slip to 10-6 on the fall and 6-1 in league play.
Cabrini won the opening set on Thursday night, 25-20 before taking a two-games-to-none advantage with a 25-13 decision in the second game. The Cavaliers closed out the three-set sweep with a 25-15 decision in set three.
Anne-Marie Jones led all players with 12 kills while Kelly Guarino had 10 kills to lead Cabrini, who posted a .196 hitting percentage as a team. Emily Stokarski led all players with 34 assists while Emily Shannon added match-highs of 16 digs and four service aces for the Cavaliers.
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) picked up team-highs of 15 digs and five kills for Keystone, who got 14 digs from
Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas), who also had three assists.
Taylor Beatty (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) put down four kills while
Shannon Monahan (Manalapan, N.J./Freehold) chipped in with three kills for the Giants, who hit -.020 in the loss.
Sydney Binkley (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) led the visitors with nine assists while
Malley Bowen (Owego, N.Y./Tioga Central) put up five helpers.
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) added Keystone's lone ace on the evening.
Keystone will return to the court on Friday with a pair of non-conference matches at the Knights Fall Classic hosted by Neumann University. The Giants will take on Rowan University at 4:00 p.m. followed by a contest against Saint Mary's University (Minn.) starting at 6:00 p.m. in Aston, Pennsylvania.
