La Plume, Pa. – Keystone College's volleyball team snapped a four-match losing skid on Friday night with a dominating, three-set sweep of visiting Cedar Crest College in Colonial States Athletic Conference action in the Gambal Center. The Giants improve to 11-8 on the season including a 7-1 mark in conference play with the win while the Falcons fall to 6-12 overall and 2-5 in the CSAC.
Keystone opened the match with a 25-13 victory in the first set before taking a 2-0 advantage with a 25-8 win in game two. The Giants closed out the sweep in convincing fashion, winning the third set by a 25-6 margin.
Keystone posted an outstanding, .429 hitting percentage in the win and served up 15 aces in the win as a team.
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) led the hosts offensively with 15 kills on 21 attempts for a .571 hitting percentage while
Taylor Beatty (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) put down four kills while tying with
Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) for the team lead with six digs.
Malley Bowen (Owego, N.Y./Tioga Central), Shannon Monohan, and
Amanda Hardy (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) collected three kills apiece with Bowen adding a match-high 13 assists for the Giants, who also received 10 helpers from
Sydney Binkley (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North).
Heitman and Bowen had four aces apiece while
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) chipped in with three aces and four digs.
Molly Schnaubelt and Nicole Hill had three kills apiece for Cedar Crest while Steph Barr led the Falcons with 10 assists. Jacey Ludham added a match-high 10 digs in the loss for the visitors.
Keystone returns to the court on Saturday with a pair of non-conference matches at the Arcadia University Tournament. The Giants will take on Albright College at 12:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. contest against the host Knights.
