Allentown, Pa. – Keystone College picked up an important win at Cedar Crest College on Wednesday afternoon, topping the host Falcons 3-1 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference field hockey contest. The Giants improve to 6-8 on the fall and 3-2 in conference play. Keystone is currently tied with Marywood University for third place in the league with Neumann taking on league-leading Gwynedd Mercy University later on Wednesday night.
Prior to Wednesday's contest, the two teams came together wearing pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The two squads honored the memory of Keystone athletic director Matthew Grimaldi's late wife Jayme, a former student-athlete and graduate of Cedar Crest, who lost her life after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Keystone dominated play in the first half, outshooting the Falcons (4-8, 1-4 CSAC) by an 11-1 margin, but it wasn't until their final shot of the period that the visitors broke through. With time expired in the half, the Giants had a penalty corner chance that led to
Alissa Nugent (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) scoring her first goal of the season after taking a pass from
Shelby Croasdale (Nicholson, Pa./Lackawanna Trail), who picked up her third assist of the fall on the game's opening goal.
Kayla Bain (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) doubled Keystone's lead in the 58
th minute after taking a feed from
Ayana Crawford (Washington, D.C./Elizabeth Seton), who picked up her third assist of the season as the Giants took a 2-0 lead.
Bain extended the visitor's lead to three goals with an unassisted tally, her team-leading 13
th of the season, in the 61
st minute.
Cedar Crest's Alexx Miller broke up Keystone's shutout bid in the 63
rd minute, scoring after taking a pass from Rachel Betchel to close out the scoring.

Emily Hawkins (Glenside, PA/Cheltenham) made three saves to pick up the win while Falcons' netminder Cassandra Reijgers made seven stops in the loss.
The Giants doubled up Cedar Crest in shots for the game, 16-8, to go along with a 10-4 lead in shots on goal. The visitors also claimed a 12-3 advantage in penalty corners in the win.
Keystone will host Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday starting at 3:00 p.m. on the turf field in La Plume.
