La Plume, Pa. – Keystone College cruised to a three-set victory over visiting Centenary University in Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball action on Friday night. The Giants level their record at 4-4 (2-0 CSAC) with their fourth-straight win, the last three all coming in three sets. The Cyclones see their record drop to 1-8 overall and 0-1 in the CSAC.
Keystone won the opening set 25-14 and forged a 2-0 advantage with a 25-19 decision in game two. The Giants closed out their third-straight sweep with a convincing, 25-7 victory in the third set.
Taylor Beatty (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) led a balanced offense for Keystone with seven kills while
Maddie Roat (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) and
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) had six kills apiece.
Amanda Hardy (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) and
Nicki Yeager (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) chimed in with four kills each on the night.
Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) served up a match-best seven aces while
Dana Carey (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) collected four aces. Zuchowski tied Keystone's all-time record for career aces with the 177
th of her career, matching the program-high mark of 177 set by Lisa Morrissey from 2001-2005.
Malley Bowen (Owego, N.Y./Tioga Central) collected 19 assists while
Sydney Binkley (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) added 12 assists for the Giants, who posted a .394 hitting percentage in the victory.
Carey led the squad with eight digs while Bowen and
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) chipped in with five digs apiece.
Zoey Wood paced Centenary with eight assists and four kills while Ashley Bierbaum and Na'imah Spells picked up six digs apiece. The Cyclones hit just .017 as a team in the loss.
Keystone will be right back on the court on Saturday with a CSAC tri-match at Gwynedd Mercy University. The Giants will take on Cairn University at 12:00 p.m. before meeting the host Griffins at 2:00 p.m.
