Cabrini Claims High-Scoring Affair at Keystone, 101-93

Gilliam, Belcher, and Mills net career-highs for Giants in loss to Cavaliers

La Plume, Pa. – Keystone College's Mark Gilliam (Philadelphia, Pa./High School of the Future) and Perry Belcher (Orlando, Fla./Colonial) combined to score 59 points, but Cabrini University's duo of Tyheim Monroe and DeVahnte Mosley put up 66 points to lead the Cavaliers to a 101-93 victory over the Giants in a high-scoring Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Saturday afternoon in the Gambal Athletic Center.

Gilliam, who was one of three Giants to set new career-highs in the game, tied a Keystone single-game record with eight made three-pointers in the contest.  The junior matched the program record which was done three time previously, most recently by Tim Benedix against Centenary College on February 16, 2013.

Cabrini (10-4, 6-1 CSAC) came out firing on all cylinders in the first 9:10 of Saturday's contest, racing out to a 27-11 lead.  Keystone (5-9, 2-6 CSAC) countered with a 24-11 run over the final 7:16 of the half to pull to within one point at 45-44 at the break as Gilliam drained a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Monroe led all scorers with 19 points in the first half while Mosley added 10 points for Cabrini, who went 45.7 percent from the floor including a 5-14 showing from three-point range along with a perfect 8-8 effort at the free throw line.

Belcher and Gilliam netted 14 points apiece to pace Keystone's offense as the Giants shot 51.7 percent from the field including a 6-14 effort from beyond the arc.  The host also went 8-11 from the charity stripe in the opening 20 minutes of play.

Keystone took its first lead of the game at the 14:55 mark of the second half when Belcher scored on a jumper and the two teams traded baskets over the next five minutes with Cabrini claiming a 76-73 edge with 8:48 remaining.  The Cavaliers took control of the game by using a 19-8 run to build a 95-81 lead with just over two minutes remaining.  The Giants pulled to within six points in the final 30 seconds before the visitors iced the game with a pair of free throws.

Monroe finished with game-highs of 35 points and 13 rebounds while Mosley netted 31 points for the Cabrini, which finished the game shooting 48.6 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 77.4 percent from the line.

Gilliam (35), Belcher (24), and Ray Mills (Philadelphia, Pa./Oakbrook) (19) all netted career-highs for Keystone, combining for 78 of the Giants' 93 points.  Belcher added team-highs of six rebounds, five assists, and two steals for the hosts, who hit on 49.2 percent of their field goal attempts while going from 41.9 percent from downtown and 80 percent from the stripe.

Keystone returns to the hardwood on Wednesday night with a CSAC matchup at Centenary University starting at 8:00 p.m. in Hackettstown, New Jersey.
