Rosemont, Pa. – Keystone College cruised to a three-set victory over host Rosemont College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball match on Wednesday night. The Giants improve to 7-11 overall on the season including a 5-3 record in conference play while the Ravens fall to 1-13 this fall and 0-6 in the CSAC.
Keystone dominated Wednesday's first set, winning 25-8, but had a much tighter battle in the second frame, prevailing 25-21 to take a two-sets-to-none advantage. The Giants then closed out their sixth sweep of the year with a 25-18 decision in the third game.
Nathalie Ortiz (New Milford, N.J./New Milford) powered Keystone's attack with match-high 11 kills,
Amanda Hardy (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) contributed seven kills, and
Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) chipped in with six kills for the Giants, who hit .185 as a team in the win.
Malley Bowen (Owego, N.Y./Tioga Central) led all players with 28 assists while
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) had match-best of 19 digs and six service aces.
Larkin also served up four aces for the visitors, who totaled 13 aces on the night.
Leilani Naone-Carter put down a team-leading eight kills for Rosemont, who received 14 helpers from Alyssa Springer. Naone-Carter, Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter, and Holly Brady each picked up eight digs for the Ravens, who posted a .051 hitting percentage in the loss.
Keystone will host a tri-match on Saturday in the Gambal Athletic Center as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend in La Plume. The Giants will take on Immaculata University in CSAC match starting at 11:00 a.m. before meeting the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in a non-conference contest at 3:00 p.m.
