La Plume, Pa. – Keystone College cruised to a three-set sweep over visiting Clarks Summit University in a Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball match on Tuesday night in the Gambal Athletic Center. The Giants lift their record to 9-12 overall and 7-3 in conference play while dropping the Defenders to 6-17 on the year and 2-6 in league contests.
Keystone rolled to a 25-7 victory in Tuesday's opening set before taking a 2-0 advantage with a 25-13 triumph in the second game. The Giants then closed out their eighth three-set victory of the fall with a 25-17 victory in the third frame.
Nathalie Ortiz (New Milford, N.J./New Milford) powered Keystone's attack with a match-high nine kills,
Nicole Frascati (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) totaled five kills, and
Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) added four kills for the Giants, who hit .253 as a team in the victory.
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) led all players with 16 digs and six service aces while
Malley Bowen (Owego, N.Y./Tioga Central) added a match-best 22 assists and 12 digs. Larkin also chipped in with four aces for Keystone, who also received a pair of aces from Bowen and
Nicki Yeager (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) on the night.
Alexa Wagner had a team-leading nine kills for Clarks Summit while Torri Erdman picked up 10 digs in the loss. Molly Ayala led the Defenders with seven assists and three aces as the visitors ended the match hitting -.067.
Keystone will host King's College on Thursday evening in a non-conference match starting at 6:00 p.m.
