Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Keystone College suffered a pair of setbacks on Tuesday at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic, falling to 1-3 on the young season with losses to Lycoming College and Gettysburg College in Myrtle Beach. The Giants dropped their opener to the Warriors 9-3 before being shut out by the Bullets in the nightcap, 3-0.
Game 1 vs. Lycoming
In Tuesday's first game against Lycoming (3-0), Keystone jumped out to a strong start with three runs in the top of the first inning.
Antonette Scialpi (Hughestown, Pa./Pittston Area) singled through the right side to drive in
Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) and
Sarah Stacey (Shickshinny, Pa./Lake-Lehman) before
Emily Long (Shamokin, Pa./Our Lady of Lourdes Regional) came home on a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Nicole Shay (Thompson, Pa./Susquehanna Community) to give the Giants a 3-0 advantage.
The Warriors got a run back in the bottom of the first inning before tying the game at 3-3 with a pair of runs in the home third.
Lycoming pulled away in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring six runs on four hits and one error before holding Keystone scoreless the rest of the way to secure the win.
Hannah Boop was strong in the circle for the Warriors, throwing a complete game three-hitter with three strikeouts.
Morgan Kunes and Rachael Shady had a pair of hits each for Lycoming while Kelcie Crabb drove in a game-high three runs for the Warriors.
Alyssa Hughes (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) suffered the loss after yielding five runs on four hits with one strikeout in three innings pitched for Keystone while
Jordan Hodle (Plymouth, Pa./Lake-Lehman) was charged with three earned runs on three hits in three innings.
Stacey, Lloyd, and Scialpi accounted for the Giants' three hits in the setback, all singles.
Game 2 vs. Gettysburg
In Tuesday's nightcap against Gettysburg (6-2), the Bullets took a 1-0 edge in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Carliana Folfas.
The score remained 1-0 until the home sixth when Gettysburg tallied the final two runs of the game. Folfas drove in Abby Zalucki with a double before Sophia Blasius hit an RBI double of her own to make it a 3-0 game.
Morgan Clauser improved to 4-0 on the season on the rubber for the Bullets, tossing a complete game, three-hit shutout of the Giants with nine strikeouts.
Folfas, Jamie Abell, and Meredith Taylor had two hits apiece for Gettysburg.
Hodle was charged with the loss for Keystone in a complete game effort, giving up three runs on eight hits while picking up eight strikeouts.
Long,
Ryleigh Fitch (Springville, Pa./Tunkhannock Area), and
Mariah Loughney (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland) had the Giants' three hits in the loss with Fitch's double standing as Keystone's only extra-base hit of the day.

Keystone will enjoy a day off tomorrow before playing a pair of games on Thursday. The Giants will meet Alfred State College at 9:30 a.m. before playing SUNY Canton at 11:30 a.m. in Myrtle Beach.
